Grampian 50+
Outdoor and social activities for the over 50s
Grampian 50+ is an association of 46 walking groups across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
Groups organise their own walks. Some walks are local while others are further afield and make use of public transport, minibus or private cars.
A committee of volunteers organises opportunities for all members to meet and mingle. These include walking days, training sessions, holidays and other events which may involve walks, social and craft activities or visits to local sites of interest.

Age Scotland Volunteer of the Year Award 2024
Congratulations to our Chair, Marjory D’Arcy who has been awarded the Age Scotland Volunteer of the Year Award. This is a very well deserved recognition of all the work that she has done over the 25 years working with the Network; the video in which Marjory tells her story in her own words can be viewed here.
Ramblers Rendezvous at Balmoral
Over 230 members attended the Rendezvous at Balmoral on July 25th where a wide range of activities and walks were on offer. Tai Chi, Willow Craft, sketching and drawing and boules were available in the castle grounds, while buses ferried folk to Crathes Kirk, Braemar Castle and Braemar village for informative tours. Nine different walks of varying length and difficulty proved very popular, and luckily the weather was kind for the majority of the day. The event concluded with participants being piped up to the front of the castle where everyone finished with a fun highland fling. There were hot pies to fuel everyone on their way home; a great day!
Spring Fling 2024
The 2024 Spring Fling was held at Mintlaw Academy on May 25th. Over 200 members enjoyed a day of walks and activities ranging from crafts, visits to local sites of interest, e bikes and exercise classes. We also enjoyed some excellent cakes!
25th Anniversary Conference
To celebrate 25 years of the Network, a conference was held at the Beach Ballroom on 20th November. Cameron McNeish gave an inspirational talk and there were presentations from Age Scotland and the Bothy. The afternoon began with a seated meditation session before breaking out into a series of workshops, including keep fit for walking, use of a defibrillator, Xmas crafts and many more. The afternoon finished with a sing along and all agreed that the food provided by the Beach Ballroom was excellent. Laura from ldmphysiotherapy has kindly supplied the an exercise sheet which can be downloaded here. STV were present and we had a slot on the evening news that showcased the event.
